Escape to the rainforest – you’ve earned it.

With sprawling mountain ranges, dense rainforest, exceptional dining and exhilarating activities, a visit to O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat is a true reward.

First stop on your adventure is O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards. With a relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere and hands-on approach, it’s the ideal start. Join the couples picnicking on the banks of the creek and sip wine that was grown just metres away. Learn more about the process while you drink the exceptional home-grown wine. The sparkling chambourcin is a local favourite, made using the French champagne method.

You leave the winery feeling like a true connoisseur before embarking on the spectacular drive up the mountain. As you pass dense rainforest and catch glimpses of the stretching ranges, you begin to understand the region’s charm.

The word ‘retreat’ really sums up O’Reilly’s – it’s nestled amongst the heritage-listed Lamington National Park in a quiet and luxurious setting. You’re embraced by comfort and luxury, regardless of whether you stay in a Villa, Suite or Mountain View room.

After getting settled, the adventurous types can head into the rainforest to try out the flying fox. Dodge past wallabies on your climb up the mountain track to find the launch pad nestled amongst the canopy. After getting harnessed and briefed, you can either walk or run the plank before leaping out over the treetops. Bursting into the clearing with your heart racing, you get an eagle-eye view of the fantastic landscape. After a few attempts you’ll be ready to throw your arms wide or even try going upside-down.

As the sun sets, take a trip to the majestic lookout of Moonlight Crag. As you gaze over the Lost World Valley with a beer in hand, drink in the epic view of the misty valley and stunning sunset in front of you.

By this point you’ll have worked up an appetite, so head to The Dining Room. Among the many starter options is the pan fried gnocchi – crisp and flavoursome, it’s sure to transport your senses to Italy. Steak lovers can follow up with a melt-in-the-mouth rib eye cooked to perfection. And as you eat, watch possums and pademelons mill about outside through the bay windows.

After dinner, you can retire to the canopy bar and curl up next to the fire with a glass of locally grown wine or head out on a glow-worm tour, which involves trekking into the rainforest by torchlight. Speckled against the dense forest backdrop, the glow-worms are reminiscent of the Milky Way.

After a peaceful sleep and hearty breakfast, the famous O’Reilly’s bird walk is a great start to the day. Follow this with the nature experience and get up-close and personal with endangered quoll, sugar glider, birds of prey and snakes.

The adventurous spirits can then jump on a Segway and take part in the safari tour. After a quick lesson, you’ll be soaring through the rainforest, embracing the natural wonder and unimaginable views.

Leaving the rainforest retreat, you feel refreshed, relaxed and reconnected. As you descend the mountain feeling mentally detoxed, you understand the magic of O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat.
