Melbournians, have your forks and tasting glasses at the ready.
Held this weekend between Friday, May 30 and Sunday, June 1, The Good Food & Wine Show offers an arena where chefs, producers and foodies can gather for a few days of utter foodie indulgence.
There’s the popular Good Food Theatre, where you can see your favourite TV chefs take to the stage to make you, yes you, a three-course meal. Some of the acclaimed chefs include Matt Moran of ARIA and Paddock to Plate fame, and Alla Wolf-Tasker, proprietor and culinary director of Lake House who you’ll have seen on MasterChef recently if you’ve been watching.
Matt Moran will also be doing Paddock to Plate presentations, where he’ll let lucky attendees in on his favourite food and wine regions and producers. You’ll also get to see original show footage of his visits to Australian farms.
Cheese Alley by Tucker’s Natural is a cheese tasting extravaganza where you’ll find an array of both boutique cheese makers and well-known cheese brands. Take a wander down Cheese Alley, asking the producers about each cheese’s unique flavour.
And with any good cheese tasting, comes wine tasting, and that’s where the Riedel Wine Theatre and its 30-minute wine appreciation classes come in handy.
Next, hit up the Grazing Garden where you’ll find a selection of Melbourne’s favourite food trucks. Try Vietnamese rolls from Banh Mi Boys, international street food by Dave Walsh and his Digging for Fire BBQ Kitchen, European goodies from Chef Casey Norman’s Trailor Made food van, traditional Souvas from Greek Street Food and sweet treats from Yoghurt Culture.
There’s also a farmers’ market, cooking classes and Nespresso experience. And all this is included in a general entry ticket.
